THE TRAVELING CHEF HOSPITALITY GROUP
Christopher Mangless has entertained countless musicians and political talent over the years, but unlike these artists and heads of state, you can literally taste the passion and skill that has gone in to each of Mangless’ creations. A true Midwesterner from birth, Mangless developed his interest in culinary arts early on while watching his father craft artisan breads and pastries at his grandfather’s Green Bay bakery. At the age of six, Mangless took to the kitchen and began impressing his family with his inventive dishes. He went on to cook his way through high school at local restaurants where he further developed his passion for local and seasonal cuisine before ending up in the culinary arts program at Denver’s Johnson & Wales University. Between studying, attending classes, and working at the city’s most prestigious restaurants (including training in new world cuisine under renowned chef Norman Van Aken), Mangless began cooking on the side for friends and clients as an opportunity to get inventive with his techniques. His seasonal tasting dinners quickly became legendary, and the high demand for his multi-course presentations led him to take the leap of faith to pursue traveling and cooking in people’s homes on a nightly basis. His roaming refections earned him the nickname The Traveling Chef, and after years spent cooking on the road, he eventually made his way back home to Green Bay to challenge himself with yet another creative pursuit.
Not one to sit still, Mangless continues to use his free time for epicurean experiments, including a line of artisan caramels (www.jacbcaramel.com) which he co-founded between cooking across the globe, formulating seasonal tasting menus at Three Three Five, and designing elaborate events with Grammy-winning entertainers.
